About HILOS
HILOS is reimagining how footwear is designed and made. Our no-CAD platform enables creators to design and launch footwear without specialized design or manufacturing expertise. We believe breaking down barriers to shoemaking will encourage better designers and new kinds of design.
We are a small, fast-moving team of designers, engineers, and creative technologists based in Old Town Portland, and we’re looking for someone equally passionate about design, technology, and community to help us grow.
Role Overview
We are looking for a part-time Marketing & Community Coordinator (10–20 hours/week to start) to develop and execute a steady cadence of events and content that foster our community of creators, designers, and creative technologists. This is not a traditional sales marketing role—our focus is on building authentic relationships and brand loyalty through events, storytelling, and digital touchpoints.
Responsibilities
- Community Events:
- Develop and manage an events calendar (in-person and virtual) that connects footwear designers, creative technologists, and independent creators.
- Handle event logistics: venue coordination, speaker outreach, promotion, and on-the-ground support.
- Content & Storytelling:
- Create engaging content (posts, recaps, behind-the-scenes) for Instagram, LinkedIn, and email.
- Support video and photo content production for community storytelling.
- Email & Social Marketing:
- Write and schedule newsletters and email campaigns.
- Manage social presence with consistent, authentic voice.
- Community Growth:
- Help recruit and onboard new community members into private groups (Discord, WhatsApp, etc.).
- Support ongoing community engagement and loyalty initiatives.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in marketing, community management, or event production (agency, brand, or creative studio background welcome).
- Strong project management skills; comfortable running multiple small events and campaigns.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Passion for design, fashion, or creative technology is a major plus.
- Based in Portland (or nearby), with ability to attend and support events in person.
What We Offer
- Part-time, flexible role with opportunity to grow as HILOS scales.
- Creative, collaborative work environment at the intersection of design and technology.
